MOBILE STATIONS

RESIF’s geophysical or geodetic mobile instruments enable the collection of data for specific purposes in places where there are no permanent stations or to complement existing permanent stations to densify spatial sampling. The instruments are described as being “mobile” because the experiments for which they are used are of limited duration, ranging from a few days to a few years.

At present, RESIF has mobile seismometers , mobile GPS receivers and mobile gravimeters. For an example of a major experiment in progress, see the PYROPE experiment.
