International collaboration

RESIF, figuring on the Research Ministry roadmap of major research infrastructures, is expected to be a major French contribution to the EPOS (European Plate Observatory System) research facility.

EPOS is a European project to set up an infrastructure to observe the inside of the planet earth. Its objectives are similar to those of other observation systems, such as telescopes. In December 2008, this project was added to the ESFRI, (European Strategic Forum on Research Infrastructures) project’s roadmap. The preparatory phase of EPOS began on November 1 2010, and is expected to last 4 years.

RESIF relies on a highly structured scientific community enjoying an international reputation. It confirms the presence of French scientists at the very heart of seismological and geodetic observation systems at both European and world levels. The use of RESIF concerns all academic establishments and their scientific partners.

RESIF-EPOS data will be made available via a datacenter operating in collaboration with other datacenters, including ORFEUS and IRIS.
