The Scientific and Technical Meetings of Résif are held every two years. They took place in Biarritz this year and brought together more than 100 members of the network, including a large number of seismology specialists in France, for an inventory of the infrastructure, presentations of instruments, research and results, workshops and posters.

These meetings are also a unique opportunity for researchers, engineers and technicians to exchange with their colleagues from all over France on their practices, to initiate collaborations and to maintain the friendly relations essential for the smooth running of the infrastructure.

The presentations took up most of the two days. The session “State of play” first allowed to detail the progress of each specific and transversal action of Résif. It was followed by thematic sessions focusing on instrumentation, ongoing research in the Résif perimeter or the results obtained from the data.

The detailed programme is available on the meetings website. It will soon be completed with the presentation materials.

The 2019 Meetings took place in a slightly feverish atmosphere and the programme was disrupted for some of the participants, due to the two earthquakes that occurred in France just the day before and during the Meetings. These two events mobilised seismological researchers and engineers in the analysis of the events and relations with the media.
The 5.1 earthquake in Drôme-Ardèche caused four injuries and led to the shutdown of the Cruas-Meysse nuclear power plant, and the series of earthquakes, including one of magnitude 3.1, north of Strasbourg.
