  3. The pool of Resif mobile GPS sensors renewed

The renewal of the GPSMob mobile pool, started in 2021, is well advanced. Between the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022, 40 Leica GR50 receivers and their AS11 antenna have already replaced the GR25/AS10 pairs acquired from 2013 to 2015.

These new receivers respect the constraint that we impose on ourselves for the mobile fleet, which is to be able to modify certain configuration elements in the field without having a computer or a smartphone. Few models meet this constraint in the range of accuracy required for the GPSMob park, because most manufacturers offer reference stations intended for permanent installations whose infrastructure is always more elaborate than what is available on campaigns.

The external aspect of the new generation of sensors is almost identical to the previous one. This evolution is thus completely transparent for the users of the park, used to the previous model. The same is true from a logistical point of view: the compatibility of the instruments makes it unnecessary to supply new references of spare cables and to modify the packaging.

Moreover, the reformed receivers can, for a certain time, reinforce the fleet during exceptional events (delays in returning from missions, seismic crises). The only difference with the new devices is their age and therefore their probability of failure.
